Q: We are planning to use your products for business critical notifications and thus trying to establish a robust environment. Do you have any hardware recommendations?
A: It is very important that you consider robustness when you choose your hardware! First, your choice of modem is of course very important. The modems on the market today vary in quality, so do not try to save a few money on this item. Zonith recommends using Siemens MC35 modems.
Second, your choice of RS232 serial card is also very important. Zonith recommends using an industrial high grade serial card instead of relying on the standard card delivered with your computer.
Third, Zonith recommends using an antenna cable in order to keep the GSM signalling in appropiate distance from the rest of the hardware instead of mounting the antenna directly on the GSM modem.

Q: What is a TETRA Radio Terminal?
A: A TETRA Radio Terminal is a quick and easy way to add TETRA functionality to a computer. Basically, it is a radio with some extra functionality that can be plugged to a computer. An ordinary TETRA radio cannot be used. The TETRA Radio Terminal must be connected to a TETRA network.
Q: Which TETRA Radio Terminals do Zonith's products support?
A: All products are tested using Sepura and Motorola TETRA Radio Terminals. Zonith recommends using these.
Q: Where can I buy a TETRA Radio Terminal?
A: Contact Zonith and we can help you to find a supplier.
Q: How can I verify that my TETRA Radio Terminal is working properly?
A: A simple test can be done using AT commands and a terminal emulation program. On Windows platforms use the HyperTerminal program.
On Linux use the minicom terminal emulator. Type CTRL-A Z for the list of commands. To run commands use CTRL-A <key>.
Important: Remember to close the terminal program before running any of the TETRA products. Only a single application can use a serial port at a time!
Q: My terminal program cannot detect the TETRA Radio Terminal and I know that the port is correct. What is wrong?
A: For Microsoft Windows platforms it may be necessary to reboot the computer after you have connected the TETRA Radio Terminal to the serial port.
Q: How do I check the network coverage?
A: In order for any TETRA product to work there must be network coverage. You can see on the display of the TETRA Radio Terminal if there is network coverage.
