SMTP
An SMTP listener ‘listens’ to local SMTP-servers (e-mail server). It receives mails from a pro-duction system or panic button, and alarms are raised when an e-mail contains an alarm text. The ZONITH Alarm Control System then alerts relevant personnel on their radio terminals. This listener is still functional even if the internet is down because the e-mail is read on the way out.
This listener is an important part of Zonith’s Unemployment Center solutions as back-up for SDS. Panic buttons send mails to the SMTP-listener with the location of the alarm. Approximately a second after the panic-button is pressed the guards receive the alarm text on their radio terminals.
POP3 Listener
The POP3 Listener is used, when it is not possible to use the SMTP Listener. It searches a POP3-inbox at a regular interval for alarm texts. If an alarm is detected, the listener notifies the ZONITH Alarm Control System.
The POP3 listener is being used in wind mills with great succes.
