Listeners are ‘translators’ between an alarm source and the TETRA Alarm Control System. They simply transform the ‘language’ of the different alarm sources to a language the TETRA Alarm Control System can use.

This secures that TETRA Alarm Control System stays a solid standard product, no matter what alarm systems it may be dealing with. It does not have to be modified - it just needs the right listener.

 

Safe and Reliable Alarm System

Listeners have a safety purpose as well. If the TETRA Alarm Control System is being restarted or is down - it is the listeners which collect the alarms and transmit them to the TETRA Alarm Control System as soon as it is online again.

Listeners have a heart beat functionality, which TETRA Alarm Control System monitors. If a listener is off-line for some reason TETRA Alarm Control System issues an alarm.

In this way the listeners and the TETRA Alarm Control System is watching out for each other.
